Do you have a lab in Ontario, Alberta or Quebec?
No. TeraDrive has one lab, in Langley, BC, and that is on purpose: every case in the country is handled by the same engineers in the same cleanroom, never forwarded to a third party. Clients in every province and territory ship to us with a free prepaid Canada Post waybill, and recovered data ships back free on a new drive.
How does the free shipping work?
Request a waybill from us, print it, pack the device, and hand the box to any Canada Post outlet. The label is prepaid, the parcel is tracked, and it usually arrives at our lab in two to four business days from most of Canada. We confirm receipt, and your free evaluation and quote follow within 48 hours. After a successful recovery, return shipping is free as well.
How should I pack a hard drive or phone for shipping?
Put the drive in an anti-static bag if you have one, wrap it in bubble wrap or foam, and place it in a snug box so it cannot move. Do not ship a drive loose in an envelope. For phones, power them off and include any cable or adapter we would need. Do not include passwords in the box; we will ask for them securely if the recovery needs them.
How long does data recovery take from Toronto, Calgary or Halifax?
Add two to four business days of shipping each way to our normal timeline. We evaluate the device within 48 hours of receiving it and send a clear quote. Most standard recoveries are completed in 10 to 12 business days after you approve the quote. Faster options are available for an added fee.
Does my data stay in Canada?
Yes. The parcel is tracked by Canada Post from the moment you hand it over, and at our lab every case is handled by our own technicians under a strict confidentiality agreement. Your data never leaves Canada and is never sent offshore or to third parties, which matters for privacy, legal and business records.
Why not use a local data recovery shop instead?
Ask them one question: is the work done in your own lab? Many storefronts collect the drive, ship it to a wholesale lab they do not control, and add a margin on top. If your drive is going to travel anyway, send it directly to the lab that does the work.
